P.S. WE ARE BEYOND EXCITED THAT YOU’VE CHOSEN SMOOTHED AND WE CANT WAIT TO MEET YOU AND YOUR HAIR!

DOwntime:

No more waiting around after your keratin treatment—those days are over! With our new formaldehyde-free process at SMOOTHED, you’ll leave the salon with your treatment fully activated and ready to take on the day. That means no more downtime, no more awkward hair days, and no more planning your life around your appointment. If you’ve been holding off on scheduling because of old rules, this is your sign to book now.

We are always upgrading and perfecting or technique, so if you stylists suggests a longer downtime, please follow their specific instructions for you hair type and goals.

haircolor:

If you have color-treated hair—especially darker shades or root touch-ups—this video is for you. A lot of people don’t realize that keratin treatments are designed to penetrate deep into the hair shaft, which is great for repair… but it can also slightly lift your color in the process. That means your beautiful fresh dye job could turn a shade or two lighter—or even a little brassy—if your a level 5 or below. In this video, I explain why we always recommend doing your keratin first and your color second, how to space them out, and what to expect if your hair has been recently dyed. Whether you’re covering grays, deepening your base, or refreshing your tone, this will help you get the most out of both services without compromising the health or vibrancy of your hair.

Hair prep:

For first-time clients visiting Smoothed Salon for a keratin treatment, it’s essential that you arrive with completely air-dried hair. We need to see your natural frizz and curl pattern to create a customized treatment that best suits your hair type.

This step is crucial to ensure we give you the most effective results tailored to your specific hair needs. Also, please make sure you don’t have any extensions in—just your natural hair. This allows us to work with your real texture and deliver the most beautiful, manageable results.

parking:

Our salon is conveniently located on 30th Street, between Upas and Myrtle, in the heart of North Park.

While there isn’t much available parking directly on 30th Street, we recommend driving just past the salon and circling around to 29th Street, which runs one block behind us. You’ll find plenty of wide residential-style streets with free street parking—no meters, no time limits.

Clients rarely have to park more than a block or two away, and it’s a short, easy walk to the salon. We suggest arriving a few minutes early to give yourself time to find a spot and enjoy a smooth start to your appointment.

Hair Extensions:

At Smoothed Salon, we’re committed to delivering the highest quality keratin treatments for your hair’s health and longevity. That’s why we cannot accommodate extensions during your treatment.

It’s practically impossible to perform a thorough or effective smoothing treatment on hair with extensions, as they interfere with the results. To get the most out of your appointment, please ensure that all extensions, including protective styles like box braids, are fully removed before arriving.

aftercare products:

If you want to get the most out of your keratin treatment, it’s crucial to use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner designed specifically for keratin-treated hair. Sulfates act like scrubbing bubbles and can strip the keratin right out, reducing the effectiveness and longevity of your treatment.

For the best results, I highly recommend using Keratin Complex, Keratin Revolution, and Keratherapy products, all formulated to protect your smooth, manageable hair. Don’t let sulfates undo all the benefits of your treatment—choose products that are made to preserve your keratin!

Your stylist will recommend a brand of aftercare that compliments your treatment before you leave your first appt.
