Your curls will change. You just won’t lose them.

What keratin actually does for curly hair — what we can do, what we can’t, and where the honest trade-offs are.

Here’s what a keratin treatment does for it:
Softer and shinier Easier to detangle Easier to style Your curls intact

What Changes

Curls you can actually live with

Some clients want smooth styles that survive humidity. Others want length, movement and definition with their curls intact. Keratin does both — smooth styles hold longer, curls come through softer and more defined, and nothing that makes your texture yours gets erased.

Softer and shinier
Healthier, more moisturized, and it feels different in your hands straight away.
Easier to detangle
And it takes product far better than it did before.
Easier to style
This is the one that changes your mornings. It’s the whole point.
Less heat, more length
Less manipulation and less heat is how curly hair finally starts keeping its length.
We know many curly clients carry real and earned distrust around smoothing treatments. You are not the exception in this chair. You are who this method was built for.

Before You Book

The trade-offs

Please Read This First If you heat style or wear tension styles, we can’t promise you the results you’ve seen.

The results on our TikTok come from clients who wear their hair curly and largely leave it alone. That isn’t a coincidence, and it isn’t about who got the better stylist.

Heat and tension remove curl faster than we can protect it. Flat ironing, blowouts, tight ponytails, braids and buns all break down curl pattern between appointments. If that’s happening at home, we’re working against it every time you sit down — and we will lose that race.

We also see clients arrive with significant damage hoping we can put curl back. We genuinely can’t. Keratin fills and smooths what’s there. It cannot rebuild a curl pattern that heat has already taken.

The honest version of what to expect: dramatically more manageable, far easier to style, with the trade-off that some pieces may end up more stretched than others and your curls may not be perfectly even. Almost all our clients find that trade worth it. But if you’re hoping for perfect, uniform curls, we’d rather tell you now than have you find out in the chair.

Open What You Need

The honest answers

Will my curls change?
Yes — and here’s exactly how

Yes. You’re getting a new curl pattern. That’s what a smoothing treatment does — you can’t come in and have nothing change.

What you’re not doing is getting rid of your curls. We protect the integrity of your hair and your pattern, and a version of your curls stays intact. We are never trying to erase them.

The trade-offs
You can’t have all of it at once
  • Frizz equals volume. Definition is the absence of frizz. Less frizz means more length and sleekness — not more volume and roundness.
  • Easier to detangle means stretched. If your curls tangle less, it’s usually because they’ve been stretched into a more elongated state.
  • We don’t do curl adjustments. We won’t promise 4C to 4A, or 4A to 3B. That would be a Jheri curl, or a perm, and those are damaging.
Your hair will only do what your hair can do — especially in one treatment.
How much will my pattern actually move?
Why your result depends on where you start

Two things decide how much your pattern loosens, and neither of them is how hard we try.

Your pattern. The tighter your curl, the less it moves. Loose waves travel a long way; tight coils barely shift. Your strand. Fine hair gives in easily. A coarse strand has more structure to weigh down and smooth out, so it holds its shape.

Fine Medium Coarse Most A lot Some A lot Some A little Some A little Least Loose Curly Coily Your pattern → Colored or heat-damaged? Your square stops predicting. It can land anywhere.
Darker means more loosening

Treatment strength sits on top of all of this. Going stronger moves every square one shade darker, going gentler moves every square one shade lighter — but the order never changes.

If your hair is colored or heat-damaged, the grid stops predicting. Damage makes hair unevenly porous, so a gentle treatment lands hard where the hair is worn and barely at all where it’s still intact. Two people with identical curl can get very different results.
Whatever your goal is, is our goal
Nothing gets decided before you’re in the chair

Keratin on curly hair is genuinely tricky. If you come in wanting to keep as much curl as possible, that’s what we’ll work toward. If you want as much stretch as possible, that’s what we’ll work toward.

Because we customize around your hair history, we’ll be very honest about where we think we can get you — in one treatment, or two, or three. This isn’t a treatment we do the same way twice.

If you color your hair
Lighter before, darker after

There are two rules here, and which one applies depends on which direction you’re going.

Going lighter — highlights, bleach, balayage? Do it before your keratin. Leave roughly two to four weeks in between. Bleach breaks a keratin treatment down, so doing it afterward undoes what you just paid for.

Going darker — all-over color, gloss, toner, gray coverage? Do it after your keratin. Keratin can lift and shift color, so putting it down afterward means your tone lands where you actually want it.

If your hair is heavily bleached
Why it’s a process, not one appointment

Keratin is one of the best things you can do for bleached hair. It puts protein back where bleach stripped it from and seals the cuticle.

Here’s the honest part. The weaker your hair arrives, the gentler the treatment has to be. A gentler treatment means less curl stretch, more frizz left behind, and a first appointment that looks subtler than you might have hoped.

Getting you back to healthy hair is a process. Each treatment leaves your hair a little stronger, which means the next one can go further. Most clients see the real change by their second or third.
Does it get better over time?
Every treatment builds on the last

Considerably. Each treatment leaves your hair healthier, and healthier hair takes the next one better.

Judge your results over two or three appointments rather than one. Most of our curly clients tell us it was the second or third where it really landed.

Is this what you actually wanted?
Your honest out, with no hard feelings

If you’re looking for a salon that will push it and take the curl out, we’re respectfully not your girls. What we don’t want is for you to arrive hoping for something we can’t give you.

This works for you if:

  • You want a version of your curls kept intact, not erased.
  • You want your hair easier to style, easier to detangle, and easier to live with.
  • You understand there are trade-offs, and you’re willing to make them.
  • You’re coming in with an open mind about where your curls land.
If that sounds like you, we cannot wait to see you.

Our Promise

We can’t promise you perfect curls

At the end of the day these are smoothing treatments. They are designed to alter the pattern of your hair, and no one can honestly promise you a specific result.

What we can promise is that every one of us is deeply trained in the method of Smoothologie — gently softening and smoothing frizz, adding real manageability, and keeping your natural texture and the integrity of your hair intact. We will always do our best to get you to the goal you have for your own hair.

This is still a chemical service, and it still carries risk. That part we won’t dress up.

But you’re taking that risk with people who genuinely care about your curls — and who will do everything in their power to keep them.
