Aftercare

You’re smoothed.Here’s the easy part.

Aftercare comes down to a couple of days of care and then a few habits that keep it going. It’s genuinely simple, and it’s all on this page.

This page is the general version. The instructions specific to your hair type come by text and email — when to wash, how to dry it, what your hair in particular needs.

If you aren’t receiving them, you aren’t getting the real information. Check your spam and junk folders, look for us in your blocked or filtered messages, and make sure the email and phone number in our system are current.

The first few days

Before your first wash

Unlike traditional treatments, ours is fully activated before you leave the salon — there’s no long waiting period. We still suggest giving it 24 hours before that first wash, and washing within 72.

  • Keep it dry for that first day — no moisture, no sweating, no product of any kind.
  • Wear it down, or up very loosely. The thing to avoid is anything that leaves a hard crease. Curls, this matters far less for you.
  • Satin scarves and bonnets are perfect overnight.
  • Leave the heat alone. We sealed it with heat already — zero additional heat until you wash.

Day one to three

The first wash

Wash with a sulfate-free shampoo, dry it properly, and that’s it. You’re back to normal life with no restrictions and no downtime.

Can I just leave it a bit longer?

Most people do, and we don’t blame them — your hair is about to look the best it ever has and washing it feels like a waste. Anywhere in the 24 to 72 hour window is fine. Past that, you’re just waiting for no reason.

The long stretch

The next twelve weeks

A simple rule that covers almost everything: what’s bad for virgin hair is bad for keratin-treated hair. Chlorine, salt water, heavy sweating, bleach, color and a lot of heat will all shorten your treatment.

We’re not asking you to skip the pool or the gym. Just know the trade-off, so nothing about how your hair behaves comes as a surprise.

  • Blow-dry or diffuse every other week. Heat activation is what reminds your hair it has keratin in it, and it’s easy now.
  • Send us your after videos whenever you’re feeling bold. Every time someone shares theirs, somebody else finds us.

The one that matters

Sulfates will scrub it right out

They’re little scrubbing bubbles. Scrubbing is the entire job, and your keratin is what they’ll find first.

Sulfate-free everything, from here on.

What to use

Products we actually use

Keratin Revolution is our favourite aftercare brand by a distance — but it isn’t selling in the US yet. The moment it is, you’ll hear from us.

As for tools: drop the flat iron and toss the scrunchie. The gentler options work just as well now, because you’ve got keratin on your team.

In the meantime, use Keratherapy. It’ll keep your treatment happy until Keratin Revolution lands stateside.

Rather than send you chasing five different links, we’ve put everything we use and recommend in one place — shampoo and conditioner, the brushes, the overnight bits, all of it.

Coming back

Entirely up to you

How often you return is your call. Our happiest clients see us three or four times a year and genuinely stop thinking about their hair, which was the goal from the start.

Enjoy it. You’ve earned the good hair days.
